On 18 June 1638 Boston selectmen allowed “John SPOOR late of Clapton, in Somersetshire, to buy Mr. WILKE’s house and ground, and that his brother, James MATTOCKE, a cooper, shall have liberty to live with him or in some other place in this town” [BTR 1:34].
