I have begun a search for additional data about two of the families that appear on the 1850 census of Mason County, VA.

Page 376A; dwelling 212; dated 8 August:

George WEARS 52 M Farmer Va
Martha ” 49 F Va
James ” 25 M Laborer Va
Lucretia ” 18 F Va
George ” 15 M Laborer Va
William ” 13 M Va
Jane A. ” 10 M ”

Page 376A; dwelling 214:

Armisted EMBREY 55 M Farmer Va
Mildred ” 45 F Va
Sanford ” 20 M Laborer Va
Mary J. ” 18 F Va
Jeremiah ” 17 M Laborer Va
Louisa ” 15 F Va
Wilford ” 13 M ”
Martha A. ” 10 F ”
Elizabeth ” 6 F ”

I have recently borrowed LDS film 0567389; Mason Co. VA Marriage records.

I considered the possibility that Mildred EMBRY might be a sister of George WEARS.

I found that Armstead EMBREY married Mildred A. SNELL in Mason Co. VA in the year 1839. But this must be a second wife. Mildred SNELL has been married to Armisted EMBREY for only a little more than 10 years.  Elizabeth EMBREY, age 6 in 1850, is probably the only child in the household who is a child of Mildred. Maybe the first wife of Armisted EMBRY is a WEARS family connection.

I found these three marriages in the Mason Co. records:

Levi WALLACE to Abigail WEERS 14 June 1844

Augustus D. WALLACE to Malvina WEARS 12 Dec 1846

George GRAY to Martha WEARS 21 Oct 1847

These 3 brides could fit nicely as daughters of George and Martha WEARS.

Do you have any suggestions?
